ERCP
|
Endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography, or ERCP, is fundamentally a highly specialized X-ray test.
It enables your physician to obtain x-ray pictures of your bile ducts (the ducts that drain the liver) and
pancreatic ducts (the ducts that drain the pancreas). In addition, ERCP may enable your physician to treat
abnormalities identified during the procedure.

Upper endoscopy (also known as an upper GI endoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy [EGD], or panendoscopy) is a
procedure that enables your physician to examine the lining of the upper part of your gastrointestinal tract, ie,
the esophagus (swallowing tube), stomach, and duodenum (first portion of the small intestine) using a thin
flexable tube with its own lens and light source.
