The SmartPill Capsule is a single-use, ingestible capsule that measures pressure, pH and temperature throughout the entire GI tract. Once ingested, the SmartPill Capsule transits the GI tract by peristalsis, transmitting data continuously for five days or more to a Data Receiver worn by the patient. The SmartPill Capsule is typically passed within a few days.

After the SmartPill Capsule is passed, the Data Receiver is returned to the physician’s office where the information is quickly downloaded to the system computer. SmartPill’s MotiliGI software then generates the test results: gastric emptying time, combined small/large bowel transit time, whole gut transit time, antral and duodenal pressures and motility indices.
